Tropical Storm Eta recently lurched over southwest Florida, dumping rain and pushing a significant storm surge up into our yards and roads. We hope you didn't suffer any property damage, but if you think you might have, it's important to get it assessed ASAP.
Of course, it doesn't help that the holiday season is upon us, on top of the pandemic we've been dealing with for most of the year. There's a lot going on in your life, I'm sure, and the storm hitting Sarasota-Manatee was just one more wrench in the works.
That being said, a home inspection isn't really disruptive. I can work quietly for a few hours and get all the information I need to compile a full report--all while you're doing your holiday prep more or less uninterrupted.
We don't usually have to deal with storms this close to the holidays, but nothing's easy in 2020.
The real problem is, home's can't fix themselves. If there is damage--especially from flooding--it's only going to get worse the longer it's ignored. Mold and rot are major issues in Florida, and if any floodwater or storm surge got into your home, you need to address it now.
The same is true if you have roof leaks or unsealed windows. If you wait until mid-January to get these issues diagnosed, the problems from Eta will turn into longer-lasting and more expensive issues with your property.
No one wanted another thing to deal with this year. But the good news is that a home inspection now will save you many more problems in the future. And we all want to have a nice, uneventful 2021 to look forward to.
